To get our programme off to a fun start we are off to the Swansea & Gower Cycling Festival for the day!

Ride 11: Upper Lliw Reservoir – Moderate Ride, 34 miles, 1856 feet of ascent.

...oh yes - and a very easy 6 miles each way along Swansea bay from the rail station to ride start at Dunvant!

NB: for this ride you will need to book a ride ticket from the festival site AND if travelling by train, tickets with bike space booked! See below.

Group member Mark Drane has offered to coordinate with those attending from Cardiff.

8.03am Outward train:
We will meet at the train platform: Cardiff Central 8.03am arrives Swansea 8.56am allowing time to cycle along Swansea Bay to the start. This is a GWR service, bikes must be booked. At the time of writing no bike reservations were available on the Transport for Wales service at 7.56am.

10.00am Starting point:
BikeAbility Wales (behind Dunvant Rugby Club), Swansea, SA2 7RU.

4.00pm Ride published end time

5.28pm Return train:
There are a variety of return trains after 4pm. Due to the requirement to have cycles booked we suggest booking this or a later train and then of course if we are at the station early we will try our luck to get on an earlier one.

Ride description:
Ride 11: Upper Lliw Reservoir – Moderate Ride (a ride over longer, hillier routes aimed at more experienced cyclists).

Start: Dunvant RFC, 10.00. Distance 34 miles with 1856 feet of ascent. North along the cycle path (NCR 4) to Gowerton, on through Gorseinon, before swinging east and climbing up above Felindre. Drop down into the village before climbing up to the reservoirs. Return via undulating route to Craig Cefn Parc, dropping down onto new cycle path, on through Clydach Park, before joining NCR 43 and following the River Tawe back to Swansea, then around the bay to the Clyne Valley cycle path back to start.
