Meet 9.45am Pedal Power, CF11 9LB for a 10.00am departure. An easy 25-mile ride to the Gardens Café at Dyffryn Gardens. We head out over Cardiff Bay barrage, through Penarth, Cosmeston, Dinas Powys, a short climb just after Wenvoe and then a lovely descent to Dyffryn Gardens for our tea stop. October | First Saturday Ride | Clive’s Woodland Wonderland | 35miles | moderate
Meet 9.45am Pedal Power, CF11 9LB for a 10.00am departure. A moderate approx 35-mile ride, with a couple of strenuous climbs, through woods and forests north-west of Cardiff. We visit Ty’n-y-coed and Llantrisant Forest, stopping for coffee and brunch at Talbot Green. Homeward through Hensol Forest, with a mile of gravel track. Back at Pedal Power by 3.00pm. September | First Saturday Ride | CHANGE OF ROUTE Caerphilly & Draethen Loop | 28miles | moderate

Meet 9.45am Pedal Power, CF11 9LB for a 10.00am departure.
A moderate approx. 28-mile ride with about 1600 feet of climbing.

Cafe stops at the wonderful new Ffos Caerffili (toilets available) and Havens Well, Rudry (toilet at pub next door).
This route goes from Pedal Power up the Taff Trail to Caerphilly. From Caerphilly we follow Cycle Route 4 through Bedwas, along the old railway line to Machen, and along a lovely country lane to Draethen. From Draethen there’s a decent climb up to Rudry (coffee stop before final climb!), and then one last climb followed by a downhill to Lisvane and then a route along roads and cycle paths to Cardiff returning to Pedal Power through Bute Park. About 3hrs cycling time plus stops so returning by around 2.00pm.
August | First Saturday Ride | Wentwood | 35 miles | moderate
Meet 9.45am Newport railway station, NP20 4AX, north-side, outside station café, for a 10.00am departure. A moderate 35-mile ride with one strenuous climb into the Wentwood. We loop south of Newport, then north through Parc Seymour into the Wentwood. First café stop at the Glade Tea Rooms. North to Llantrisant, then back to Caerleon for our second café stop at the Village Bakery. Using lanes and cyclepaths throughout. Bring snacks and back-up packed lunch. Return by train from Newport around 16:30.
If travelling by train from Cardiff, cycle reservations are recommended, just in case: outward options 09:18, 09:22, 09:27; return options 16:09, 16:25, 16:31.

Meet 9.45am Pedal Power, CF11 9LB for a 10.00am departure. A moderate approx. 45-mile ride.
July’s Cardiff Cycling UK ride, from Pedal Power, is to Ogmore. We will be stopping at either the Pelican Inn or Simnai Cakes. The estimated distance is 45 miles, at "cafe ride pace", via Llantrithyd and Wick, returning via Treos and Welsh St Donats. There will be short breaks on outward and return.

June | Swansea & Gower Cycling Festival Ride 11: Upper Lliw Reservoir – Moderate Ride, 34 + 12 miles

To get our programme off to a fun start we are off to the Swansea & Gower Cycling Festival for the day!
Ride 11: Upper Lliw Reservoir – Moderate Ride, 34 miles, 1856 feet of ascent.
...oh yes - and a very easy 6 miles each way along Swansea bay from the rail station to ride start at Dunvant!
NB: for this ride you will need to book a ride ticket from the festival site AND if travelling by train, tickets with bike space booked! See below.
Group member Mark Drane has offered to coordinate with those attending from Cardiff.
8.03am Outward train:
We will meet at the train platform: Cardiff Central 8.03am arrives Swansea 8.56am allowing time to cycle along Swansea Bay to the start. This is a GWR service, bikes must be booked. At the time of writing no bike reservations were available on the Transport for Wales service at 7.56am.

There are a variety of return trains after 4pm. Due to the requirement to have cycles booked we suggest booking this or a later train and then of course if we are at the station early we will try our luck to get on an earlier one.

Ride description:
Ride 11: Upper Lliw Reservoir – Moderate Ride (a ride over longer, hillier routes aimed at more experienced cyclists).
Start: Dunvant RFC, 10.00. Distance 34 miles with 1856 feet of ascent. North along the cycle path (NCR 4) to Gowerton, on through Gorseinon, before swinging east and climbing up above Felindre. Drop down into the village before climbing up to the reservoirs. Return via undulating route to Craig Cefn Parc, dropping down onto new cycle path, on through Clydach Park, before joining NCR 43 and following the River Tawe back to Swansea, then around the bay to the Clyne Valley cycle path back to start.
